Gizmo is my rescued cat with a very incredible story. Gizmo was found in August of 1998. My dad and my sister were cleaning the yard and under the shed. They notice a bunch of fur under the shed at first they thought it was a skunk but it didn't move at all, so they decided to take whatever it was out. They started pulling it out when they noticed it was dead kittens.
One by one they pulled four dead baby kittens out, when they got to the fifth kitten it squeaked. This one was Gizmo starved and shaking. My dad called me to take him to the local humane society the next morning because he had to work and couldn't do it, I said I would so he brought it over to my house. One look at him and I knew this kitten was staying. The next morning Gizmo had stopped breathing, I freak out and rushed him to the vet clinic. They were able to revive him and diagnosed him with having severe distemper. They kept him under observation for a couple of days. Meanwhile I had to send my other cat Felix to my sisters house for awhile because I wasn't going to let them put this young kitten down (I'm stubborn and figured his distemper would go away). 3 weeks later Gizmo was given a clean bill of health and Felix was aloud to come home. At 2 months Gizmo weighed under a pound, now he is a year and 3 months and weighs just under 13 pounds (I know it is a lot but he is healthy). I look back and tears come to my eyes when I think about what would of happened to him if my dad didn't have to work or if I didn't like cats. If I would have taken him to the local animal shelter he WOULD have died and I wouldn't have had the Best kitten in Region 4 or the Best kitten in Saskatchewan. Or a cuddly furball that thrives on attention.
